The Christmas Spider Legend….According to Eastern European Folklore. A young widow was very sad one Christmas Eve because she could not afford to decorate her tree to make her children happy. The spiders of the house knew of her plight. She was always very kind to them so they spun webs on her tree and when the first light of Christmas morning shone upon the webs, they sparkled and shone making her very happy. From then on, spiders were considered lucky and a spider is often hung on the tree to bestow good luck upon the house.
